Stealth Startup | Confidential Field Operations Platform
Feb 2026 – Present • Remote
For a stealth startup's confidential field-operations platform, I owned modernization planning for AWS middleware connecting a field application to multiple enterprise systems, combining hands-on cloud engineering with release strategy, dependency mapping, stakeholder alignment, and production reliability work.
Key Achievements
- Converted an open-ended Python runtime mandate into a dependency-aware modernization program for 90+ AWS Lambda functions across three environments.
- Inventoried functions across Development, Test, and Production, mapping source repositories, shared Lambda layers, architectures, aliases, runtime versions, ownership, and invocation paths.
- Evaluated Python 3.11, Python 3.12, and Amazon Linux compatibility for a phased Python 3.9 runtime upgrade, including a proposed 12-function pilot.
- Incorporated lessons from a prior rollback affecting roughly 30 functions to define dependency risk tiers, release sequencing, QA scope, acceptance criteria, and promotion controls across development, test, and production.
- Designed release controls using published versions, stable aliases, staged traffic, monitoring, rollback thresholds, and environment promotion.
- Diagnosed production failures across distributed AWS integrations by tracing data through databases, API Gateway, Lambda functions, CloudWatch logs, source code, and external dependencies.
- Aligned engineering, QA, delivery leadership, and dependent-system stakeholders around migration scope, validation requirements, rollout timing, and operational risk.
- Identified gaps in production provenance, reactive alerting, source-of-truth management, and recovery procedures, then proposed standardized controls to reduce release and operational risk.
- Implemented and maintained Python-based cloud integrations and configuration changes supporting critical business workflows.
- Presented architecture, delivery, and risk tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders while coordinating decisions across teams with competing priorities.
